SIMPHIWE ZONDI APPOINTED MOTHEO ELECTRICAL GM

Motheo Construction Group, the largest black women-managed and lead construction company in South Africa, has appointed Simphiwe Zondi as General Manager of its Electrical Division.

The leading provider of social housing in the country, Motheo has branched out into general building, civil construction, water-saving technologies, and electrical works.

It established the fully-fledged Motheo Academy as an accredited professional skills development company operating in the South African built environment, making Motheo a formidable force in the construction industry.

Zondi assumed his new role in July 2023. His experience includes being Market Manager: Grid Integration at Hitachi Energy. At Consolidated Power Projects, he progressed from Project Engineer to Senior Project Engineer, Business Unit Manager and, ultimately, CEO of Consolidated Power Maintenance.

He has a Post Graduate Diploma: Doctoral Studies from the Gordon Institute of Business Sciences, an MBA from Wits Business School, a Master of Technology: Electrical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg, a BSc Honours: Management of Technology from the University of Pretoria, and a Bachelor of Technology: Electrical Engineering and a National Diploma: Electrical Engineering, both from the Durban University of Technology,

“Motheo offers turnkey solutions for the entire electrical scope of works. The division serves both internal and external clients,” explains Zondi. “We see ourselves at the forefront of providing electrical solutions for the South African electrical infrastructure market,” he adds. Current contracts include a R13.8 million project for construction of a solar project for the North West University and a R90 million project for the BAIC high-voltage overhead line and substation for the Coega Development Corporation.
