A three-storey building at the Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil, Kano state collapsed yesterday but the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Shehu Musa Alhaji told Daily Trust that no life was lost.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, told newsmen that contrary to earlier media reports that 25 students of institution had lost their lives, the university authorities had not recorded a single loss of life so far.

He, however, confirmed that five labourers sustained various degrees of injuries and that they were rushed to hospitals for medical treatment.

Professor Alhaji said the incident was a source of concern to the university. He said professionals had been engaged to excavate the rubble of the collapsed building to determine the extent of damage.

“With the excavation work still ongoing it was premature for one to reach to the conclusion that death toll had been recorded,” he said.
