Waterproofing Roofs – the first line of protection

Synthetic waterproofing is membrane based, and the pre-formed membranes that distinguish Master Builders Solutions’ MasterSeal range have highly specific and valuable properties: Thermoplastic Poly-Olephine (TPO / PVC) pre-formed membranes are made from polymers modified to reduce their specific stiffness. This is achieved by combining elastomers and other monomers in the gas phase (EPR Ethylene Propylene Rubber) and obtaining a flexible polyolefin alloy. These properties are extremely valuable in waterproofing roofs, and sealing dams and other water holding structures.

Masterseal – The ultimate shield

MasterSeal membranes are twin coloured and manufactured by co-extrusion in a single layer. The upper sand grey layer has an extremely high resistance to weathering and ultra violet rays, whilst the lower black layer is resistant to puncturing. The upper layer is also known as the signal layer as it reveals installation problems and damage effectively during installation. It is particularly suitable for flat roofs, complex industrial roofs and green roofs.

TPO and PVC membranes have long a life expectancy and are suitable for ballasted roofs (with and without pedestrian access), inverted roofs, mechanical and fixed system roof gardens, mechanically fixed systems, fully adhered systems, exposed vertical surfaces, complex detailing etc.

It is extremely versatile in its application and can be fully adhered or loosely laid. It can be laid over older, pre-existing waterproofing systems and can be fully exposed or covered. Being UV stable and with a life-expectancy of at least 25 years, TPO membranes can run over expansion joints and is installed rapidly.
