Builders Express opens in Thavhani City

04 July 2018

Thavhani City, the major economic centre in Thohoyandou, Limpopo, has welcomed the opening of the first Builders Express in the region in its precinct.

The new custom-built 2,500-m2 Builders Express also includes a 700-m2 garden centre. In total, the store’s first phase spans 3,200 m2served by 222 dedicated parking bays, and the development also includes an area for future expansion of a further 4,000 m2. Owned and developed by Thavhani Property Investments which is made up of local Thohoyandou company Zevodox and Flanagan & Gerard, the earthworks for the new Builders Express premises started at the beginning of August 2017, with the main contractor getting underway by mid-September. The project brought 120 jobs and a big boost to the local economy.

Thavhani City is designed to be the future economic hub of North Eastern Limpopo, with a development master plan that will create a new modern mixed-use CBD. Thavhani City will include private healthcare facilities, new transport terminals, a motor city, offices, hotels and a value retail centre. It will also feature community soccer fields and an outdoor gym, all linked with attractively landscaped pedestrian walkways.

The first phase of Thavhani City, the 50,000-m2 regional Thavhani Mall, opened on 24 August 2017. It has proven to be a resounding success and a powerful catalyst for the development rollout of the surrounding Thavhani City mixed-use urban precinct.

Builders Express adds even more critical mass to the growing central business district and the developers intend to strengthen this further with the adjacent construction of value retail and major brand motor dealerships.

In addition, a flagship NHC private medical day care clinic is in planning at Thavhani City. At 3,500 m2, it will be the group’s largest clinic in South Africa and provide key medical specialists and facilities including a radiologist, pathologist, dialysis as well as ten general practitioners. It will also provide a nursery school.

A new office park will be developed within Thavhani City. The multi-business office park will also offer vibrant co-working facilities for entrepreneurs, becoming a hub of innovation, small businesses, job creation and economic activity.
