MONYADZIWA MOKHAWA APPOINTED MOTHEO CIVILS GM

Motheo Construction Group, the largest black women-managed and lead construction company in South Africa, has appointed Monyadziwa Mokhawa as General Manager of its Civils Division.

The leading provider of social housing in the country, Motheo has branched out into general building, civil construction, water-saving technologies, and electrical works.

It established the fully-fledged Motheo Academy as an accredited professional skills development company operating in the South African built environment, making Motheo a formidable force in the construction industry.

Mokhawa commenced his career at Motheo in 2019 as a Site Agent and assumed his current position in September 2022. He has a BTech in Civil Engineering: Construction Management and a NDip Civil Engineering, both from the University of Johannesburg, and is currently busy with his MBA from Mancosa. Mokhawa is certified as an SACPCMP Professional Construction Manager and as an ECSA Pr. Tech (Candidate).

His current duties and responsibilities include implementing the company’s vision by achieving profitable operational performance and growth of the Civils Division. He has total responsibility for the technical and financial results of the division, ensures that the division’s structure is aligned to the business strategy, develops new business opportunities, and manages business risk throughout all aspects of the division’s activities.

Civil engineering remains an important part of the business and forms an integral part of successful social housing and construction. Key disciplines include structural concrete construction, township services (bulk and reticulation), road construction and rehabilitation, mining infrastructure, bulk earthworks, specialised concrete repair and rehabilitation, infrastructure services development, water treatment works.

The total value of civils projects undertaken to date is in excess of R1.5 billion. Recent and current projects are Vlakfontein Reservoir and Montrose Interchange in joint venture with WBHO, Licthenburg Roads for the Department of Public Works and Roads, Siyazenzela Services for the Mpumalanga Department of Human Settlements, Phola Iraq for the Mpumalanga Department of Human Settlements and Royal Bafokeng Floating Penstock in Rustenburg.
