Construction company GVK-Siya Zama has boosted its
Eastern Cape business by hiring experienced contractor, Hannes Geyser, to take
the regional business to new levels of growth.
As MD of the Eastern Cape division, Geyser will be
building on the company’s solid foundation and heritage in the province
spanning some 40 years, with a focus on growing the operations and contributing
positively to the construction industry in the region.
GVK-Siya Zama CEO, Eben Meyburgh is confident Geyser is
the perfect fit for the business.
“Hannes is a seasoned contractor who has the right
experience for the position. He has the right business culture, education, and
skills; as well as the drive and temperament to make success of the position.”
Meyburgh says the Eastern Cape is a very important region
for the company, with a number of staff in the province having been employed at
GVK-Siya Zama since the early 1990s.
“As one of the few established Grade 9 CIDB contractors
in the Eastern Cape, we have an obligation towards the development of the
province and its people,” says Meyburgh.
Construction companies are graded according to their
financial and capacity to carry out construction projects and Grade 9 is the
highest grade a company can achieve.
“We also remain confident in the government’s commitment
to develop this province and look forward to contributing towards a better
future for all the inhabitants by delivering a superior product, working with
local communities and developing SMMEs, suppliers, subcontractors and our
staff.”
Geyser, who has a solid track record in construction with
companies such as Basil Read and Stefanutti Stocks, sees his new role as MD at
GVK-Siya Zama as a step up in his career, in a company that he admires for how
it has grown in very difficult economic conditions.
“The new position as MD is a career advancement for me
and I expect to be challenged, which is something that I am really looking
forward to.
“A big priority is to align myself with the GVK-Siya Zama
values and the GVK-Siya Zama way as soon as possible to enable me to tap into
the solid foundation that doubled the company’s size in the last five years.
I’d like to use this knowledge to drive growth in our region in the next five
years,” Geyser says.
