The federal government has given
approval to the Ebonyi state government to construct an international airport
in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The approval followed a request by the
Ebonyi state government and subsequent visit to the proposed site by the
technical team from the federal ministry of transportation and its agencies,
The Sun reports.
Legit.ng gathers that the state
government was sent an approval letter by the safety and technical policy
department of the federal ministry of transportation.
According to the letter, the federal
ministry of transportation and its agencies must be carried along at every
stage of developing the airport to ensure compliance with the stipulated standards.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported
that the federal government commended the Delta state government for the
quality of facilities at the Asaba International Airport, saying the facilities
were of international standards.
Minister of aviation, Senator Hadi
Sirika, stated this in Asaba on Sunday, September 1, shortly after he inspected
facilities at the airport. He noted that the state government had done well in
developing the airport to meet international standards especially in the area
of upgrade of the runway and other ancillary works.
The minister particularly commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for sticking to standards and for ensuring transparency in the concessoning process of the Asaba airport. https://www.legit.ng/1258305-ebonyi-international-airport-fg-approval-construction.html
